Women’s Athletics Speaker Series

As part of our celebration of 50 Years of Women’s Athletics at Princeton, Princeton Athletics recently hosted two virtual opportunities to gather as a Tiger community and hear from a number of our incredible alumnae leaders.

INVESTING IN WOMEN’S ATHLETICS

Our most recent installment of the Jake McCandless ’51 PVC Speaker Series featured athletics alumnae and NWSL team owners Angie Knighton Long ’97 S97 and Kara Nortman ’97 discussing investment in women’s athletics. The two discussed what led them to venture into professional sports ownership, how they’re organizations are working to impact the local community, and the importance of providing athletic opportunities for girls.

PRINCETON ALUMNAE LEADERS IN SPORT

Our second program featured a panel discussion on leadership followed by breakout conversations led by PVC Board members and Tiger head coaches. Our panelists included: professional basketball player Bella Alarie ’20, NFL China Marketing Director Stephanie Hsiao ’05, VP of Nike Women’s Whitney Malkiel ’94 and business and sports attorney Jill Pilgrim ’80. The conversation covered a variety of topics including: using one’s platform to promote the advancement of others, how to increase gender equity in both athletics and the business world, and more.
